Democrats Losing Race For Funds Under Dean

By Chris Cillizza
Special to The Washington Post Saturday, November 12, 2005; A01
ORIGINAL ARTICAL

The Democratic National Committee under Howard Dean is losing the fundraising race against Republicans by nearly 2 to 1, a slow start that is stirring concern among strategists who worry that a cash shortage could hinder the party's competitiveness in next year's midterm elections.

The former Vermont governor and presidential candidate took the chairmanship of the national party eight months ago, riding the enthusiasm of grass-roots activists who relished his firebrand rhetorical style. But he faced widespread misgivings from establishment Democrats, including elected officials and Washington operatives, who questioned whether Dean was the right fit in a job that traditionally has centered on fundraising and the courting of major donors.

Now, the latest financial numbers are prompting new doubts. From January through September, the Republican National Committee raised $81.5 million, with $34 million remaining in the bank. The Democratic National Committee, by contrast, showed $42 million raised and $6.8 million in the bank.

CNN MARKS CHENEY: NETWORK FLASHES 'X' OVER VP'S FACE DURING LIVE SPEECH

At 11:04:45 AM ET Monday CNN was airing Vice President Dick Cheney's speech live from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington -- when a large black 'X' repeatedly flashed over the vice president's face!

The 'X' over Cheney's face appeared each time less than a second, creating an odd subliminal effect.

Why did the 9/11 Commission ignore "Able Danger"?

C/o the Wall Street Journal By Louis Freeh
Thursday, November 17, 2005 12:01 a.m. EST (submitted by Paige Turner)

The Wikipedia describes it as:

a small, highly classified U.S. Army intelligence program under the command of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). It was created as a result of a directive in early October 1999 by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Hugh Shelton, to USASOC to develop a campaign plan against transnational terrorism, "specifically al-Qaida." According to claims made by Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer and confirmed by four others, Able Danger had identified the 9/11 attack leader, Mohamed Atta, and three other 9/11 hijackers as possible members of an al Qaeda cell operating in the United States by mid-2000, more than a year before the attack. Data mining has been cited as the method by which this information was found. The claim appears to contradict the official conclusion of the 9/11 Commission that American intelligence agencies had not identified Atta as a terrorist prior to the attack. This has resulted in a political controversy that has begun to damage the credibility of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.
A new data mining effort based on a reconstituted Able Danger type team called "Able Providence" has been proposed by PA Congressman Curt Weldon (pictured).[1]

It was interesting to hear from the 9/11 Commission again on Tuesday. This self-perpetuating and privately funded group of lobbyists and lawyers has recently opined on hurricanes, nuclear weapons, the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel and even the New York subway system. Now it offers yet another "report card" on the progress of the FBI and CIA in the war against terrorism, along with its "back-seat" take and some further unsolicited narrative about how things ought to be on the "front lines."

Yet this is also a good time for the country to make some assessments of the 9/11 Commission itself. Recent revelations from the military intelligence operation code-named "Able Danger" have cast light on a missed opportunity that could have potentially prevented 9/11. Specifically, Able Danger concluded in February 2000 that military experts had identified Mohamed Atta by name (and maybe photograph) as an al Qaeda agent operating in the U.S. Subsequently, military officers assigned to Able Danger were prevented from sharing this critical information with FBI agents, even though appointments had been made to do so. Why?

MORE THAN HALF OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WANTS OPEN HEARINGS ON ABLE DANGER - so why isn't it happening?

The Savage Nation vs. the Bushbots

The Savage Nation vs. the Bushbots
By PAUL MULSHINE

(search.starledger.com) Al Franken and the other liberals are probably still wondering why they had such little luck in their efforts to start a talk-radio network to bash George Bush from the left. They didn't consider the obvious explanation. George Bush has his left flank nicely covered. It's on the right that he's weak.

That is the theory of Michael Savage. Savage is the most right-wing of the right-wing talkers on the national airwaves at the moment. He is based in San Francisco, but he can be heard in the New York area on WOR in the evenings. He is a welcome change from those Karl Rove clones Hush Bimbo and Sean Vanity. ...

Does the GOP have a log in it's eye?

By: Steve Jaal

No I don't think condemning homosexuality or abortion is self righteous or wrong in and of itself. I agree that those things are wrong but the problem I have is that is all the right wing Christians talk about. They don't talk about the wrongness of greed, the wrongness of corporate CEO's getting extravagant bonuses while employees are laid off or have to take pay cuts. Nor do right wing Christians talk about companies that promise pensions and then break their promises or about companies shipping jobs oversees for profit. Nor do they talk about politicians who pledge no taxes and then try to deceive us by calling it a fee. That is a lie and God calls lying an abomination. Nor do the right wing Christians hold an administration accountable for lying about the cost of medicare, or an administration that witholds doubts about WMD but rather exaggerates slim evidence. I don't hear the right wing Christians outraged at the outing of a CIA agent. Nor do I here them bothered by the antics of Karl Rove. He has a history of dirty politics and there is James Dobson being cozy with Karl Rove. What hypocrisy! As thou all God cared about was homosexuality and abortion. The Republican party is rift with corruption and the right wing Christians say nothing! Look at what is going on in Washington right now. Look at all the probes and investigations into are so called "godly" leaders from Tom Delay to the White House. And the right wing Christians say nothing! Cause all God cares about is homosexuality and abortion right? We all know that homosexuality is more vile than lying and deception right?

Leftist DEMONSTRATORS Shout down HILLARY CLINTON

The senator's keynote address at the American Democracy Institute's First Leadership Development Summit was interrupted early on by a loud group that held signs reading "Out of Iraq" When they quieted a minute or two later, a separate group began:

Many were escorted out, some resisting heavily. Flyers were dropped from the balcony that condemned Clinton for voting in favor of Iraq invasion in 2002.

Hillary voted in favor of the war resolution. (
CNN Article) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said she is not sorry she voted for a resolution authorizing President Bush to take military action in Iraq despite the recent problems there but she does regret "the way the president used the authority."

Since Hillary wrote a controversial
letter
to her constituents she has been taking heated criticism for waffling and trying to be for and against the war at the same time.

Senator Clinton did discuss the Iraq war at the end of her speech, saying it would be wonderful to turn back the clock, but we cannot and instead must create strategies out of facts.

Respect MP's stunt draws jeers from opponents and alarms supporters
by: Audrey Gillan Saturday January 14, 2006, The Guardian

He purred and mewed, his greying whiskers giving his face the appearance of a Cheshire cat. Next, George Galloway, the Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, and scourge of Capitol Hill, got on all fours and pretended to lick milk from the cupped hands of the once-famous television actor Rula Lenska. She rubbed the "cream" from his "whiskers" and stroked his head and behind his ears.

When he steps out into the real world, Mr Galloway may regret his decision to accept the producer's challenge to mimic a pet on live television last night. He may feel his flirtation with a reality TV youth audience was not worth the loss of credibility that many of his critics claimed yesterday was an inevitable consequence.

'Huge' Market for Child Porn Victimizes Younger Kids

This makes me want to cry and ask God to change this wicked wicked world from its ways!

- 2004, 2005, 2006 Messrs. Corey & Douglas Marshall-Steele Corey & US Rep. Barney Frank

(CNSNews.com) - The "shockingly huge consumer market" for child pornography is increasingly centered around very young children, some as young as 18 months old, according to the chairman of a group dedicated to preventing the exploitation of children.

- Cardon warned of a "growing phenomenon," in which the victims of child pornographers are younger and younger. "It is no longer the case of a 14 year old girl, or a 6 year old boy, but of an 18 month old baby," he said.

- img from house.gov Representing the 4th District of Massachusetts Representative Barney Frank (D - MA)

- Sadly I'm sure Barney Frank is on baord with this one. I don't know how this person can get re-elected he's only 1 of 25 to vote against the Amber alert!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5479064/site/newsweek/
his dedication to liberal causes, particularly gay rights. One of the few openly gay members of Congress, Frank had been in Washington six years before he came to out to his colleagues, and the nation, in 1987. Two years later he found himself embroiled in a sex scandal with a male prostitute named Stephen Gobie that thrust him into the spotlight

Frank's Achilles heel is his vote against Amber Alert, the rapid-response system to help find kidnapped children. The bill, introduced in the Senate by Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX), passed unanimously, 92-0. The House passed it, 400-25, with Barney being one of the 25 who voted against the bill.

Why did Frank vote against Amber Alert when everyone else in the liberal Democrat Massachusetts delegation voted for it? He says he voted against it because of the Republican add-ons. What were the add-ons? They were tough measures to punish criminals, pedophiles and child pornographers. And it was those tough measures that Frank voted against.

I'm sure this person will weigh in on this too.

Washington DC Politics

by Bob Nesbit

Gary Benoit, editor for The New American bi-weekly news magazine, recently stated, "The American people did not vote the rascals out of office on election day so much as they shifted power to another group of rascals. That's happened in the past, such as during the Republican Revolution of 1994 and it will continue to happen--until the American people insist that their elected officials abide by the Constitution, regardless of party label."

Nancy Pelosi, new Democratic Speaker of the House of Representatives, is telling us how her party is going to focus on ethics and clean things up in Washington . If you believe that I have some prime real estate I'll sell you down in the Florida Everglades.

Legislative items the Democratic Congress will be pushing include re-instating the military draft, raising the minimum wage, universal national healthcare, President Bush's guest worker (read: amnesty) program for illegal aliens, same-sex marriage, expanded abortion rights, mostly unconstitutional and ungodly legislation.

Yet the groundbreaking 74-second pitch for Democratic Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, which remixes the classic "1984" ad that introduced Apple computers to the world, is not on cable or network TV, but on the Internet.

And Obama's campaign says it had absolutely nothing to do with the video that attacks one of his principal Democratic rivals, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Indeed, the ad's creator is a mystery, at least for now.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.
she , has abruptly walked away from her responsibilities with the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee after a report linked her votes to the financial well-being of her husband's companies, which received billions of dollars worth of military construction contracts she approved.

As reported in Metroactive, an online report from the Silicon Valley, Feinstein's resignation followed six years of subcommittee work during which time her alleged conflict of interest stemmed from her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of Perini Corp. and URS Corp.

Feinstein, chairman and ranking member of the subcommittee, regularly reviewed and accepted contracts from her husband's companies for not only construction work for military bases, but also addressing "quality of life" issues for the veterans of the United States military services.

"As MILCON leader, Feinstein relished the details of military construction, even micromanaging one project at the level of its sewer design," wrote Peter Byrne in the report. "She regularly took junkets to military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband's companies, Perini Corp. and URS Corp."

He suggested perhaps Feinstein resigned "because she could not take the heat generated by metro's expose of her ethics… Or was her work on the subcommittee finished because Blum divested ownership of his military construction and advanced weapons manufacturing firms in late 2005?"
