Christian fraternity at the university runs a coffeehouse with a difference

Katherine Kersten, Star Tribune
November 2, 2005 at 10:04 PM

Original Article

While we've heard a lot recently about student arrests at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Halloween bash and binge drinking at campuses across Minnesota, something quite different is going on at Kappa Pi Alpha at the University of Minnesota.

Kappa Pi Alpha is a two-year-old Christian fraternity, located in a big house vacated several years ago by another fraternity. Eighteen students, both men and women, live there in an "intentional community" with one purpose: to be a blessing to the university.

TCRA Meeting on November 15, 2005 at 7:30pm the meeting came to order Elections were held with new leadership that takes place Jan. 1st 2005 as Follows:

President: Tom Marsland, 1st VP: Terry Flower, 2nd VP: Sherry Mattsen, Corresponding Secretary: Craig Johnson, Recording Secretary: Nancy Johnson, and treasurer

PK - Phil Krinkie, Legislature 15 years, been there since1998, chair the tax committee. Parade Magazine about the Bridge to nowhere. $2.8 Billion a day and still not enough money for pork barreled spending. We should be embarrassed by the current administration & the President. I'm here to tell you I'm here to change this in Washington the same way I did in MN. I got the nickname of Dr. NO! Even voting against things governor Carlson supported. I've been that consistent conservative in the house
JE - Jay Esmay, Air Force attached to Special Forces & the joint Chief, Mentions Mark Kennedy, not status Quo, I'm the best to defeat the Dems, my focus on Conservative values in the country. The election is the most Anti-GOP election since Watergate. If we put up the same old same old we have a lot to lose I’m tired of this and want change.
JK - Jim Knoblach, Rep. from St. Cloud, deep roots over 150 yeas in the state, a business degree St. johns, MBA owning & Running businesses for the last 25 years, board of a Telecom co. Ran for legislature was elected and proud to be a conservative, 100% voting record since 2004. I saved the state 100s of $Millions and will balance budget without raising taxes.

LEA Dinner 2006

ALthouth I wasn't able to attend I did recieve a speech from Rick Morgan from the LEA Awards Dinner honoring local reps & senators Legislative Evaluation Assembly of Minnesota, Incorporated (LEA)
"DARE TO DO YOUR DUTY”, COPYRIGHT 2006,

UNFORTUNATELY, DUTY IS NOT A WORD FREQUENTLY HEARD TODAY, EXCEPT IN CONNECTION WITH THE VALIANT SERVICE OF OUR ARMED FORCES. IT SHOULDN’T BE THAT WAY.

DUTY IS EASILY DEFINED: A DUTY IS AN ACTION REQUIRED BY ONE’S POSITION, AND EXTENDS TO BOTH MORAL AND LEGAL OBLIGATIONS. THIS EVENING, I WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE DUTIES THAT WE ALL HAVE AS CITIZENS AND THAT SOME IN THIS AUDIENCE HAVE AS PUBLIC SERVANTS. WHAT ARE THESE DUTIES? WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION FOR THESE DUTIES? AND HOW CAN THAT FOUNDATION PROVIDE A BASIS FOR EVALUATING AND ACTING UPON SOME OF THE CRITICAL ISSUES THAT FACE OUR SOCIETY TODAY.

Media Bias addressed at MPR, yet continues during recording.

6-20-06 MPR studio at 7:00 pm
played at 6-28-06

Glen GIlson: Why the media didn’t cover the aqdvoacy of the womens athletic department example of Mark Rosen & Don Shelby on how this media was covered with 70+ reporters who came with an editor in town that had the advantage of reporting at 10:00 pm. Someone should have given data 3 weeks in advance. This example gave idea on how the media performed with sports coverage controversy.

Now when I was there I witnessed them falling overthemselves to please the latin immigrant population with lingo, deciding if its ever important to describe factual statements in regards to legal vs. illegal status, or replacing it with "undocumented"to be more s-e-n-s-t-i-v-e. Now they were brought up the absurdity of the "undocumented" statement when many people here illegally have papers or someone who fails to include their paperwork in some legal action would fall into that category and what about workers who are paid in cash at times they might fall into this. While the stigma of latinos as being second class citizen stereotypes, like when Hillary Clinton said when they (I'm paraphrasing here) scrub toilets, cut the grass, or perform other meanial labor those are the faces she sees, as if thats all they are good for? That apparently isn't demeaning or insulting by the press or at least I've never heard they say anything counter to that. One reporter as seemingly typical living in the mysterious leftist world stated,"we know where they live." apparently implying some kind of standard dwelling, [possibly ghetto-like]? That apparently is a lot worse then labling some people who came here by breaking the law and continuing illegal activity and pointing it out. It was called racist and biased against the latin community, huh? I don't get it.
Now if your white you need not apply, or a Christian, patriotic or a combo or dare to show it you will not get asked questions at least one person at the meeting who had his hand raised for almost the whole time with a patriotic hat, and buttons on his hat, while he was patient no one knew him from a chair.

Jim Quinn of the John BIrch Society was allowed to speak somewhat and mentioned the SPP, FTAA, new world order, North American merger, NASCO, Lou Dobbs, and ties to communist organizers of the May rallies when Ruben Rosario of the Pioneer Press commented on him by name again he was snubbed as well, perhaps from lack of time? But they let many pointless people ramble in my opinion so thats not clear. The seminar was fair I guess getting ANY input in the media is usually harder then the IRS to change their mind so its a start.

Memorial Day May 28, 2007 Events are planned but one is ironic I think.

Here is the Irony we are honoring past & present vets who are currently  fighting Muslim's, the guest speaker is a Muslim, Muslim's can't eat pork, yet they are having a Pig roast. I sure hope Mr. Ellison eats up with all the vets who show up and doesn't insult them, the war, or Minnesotans. At least other events aren't as sad.

Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., a powerful member of committees that would authorize and pay for a NAFTA Superhighway, if one were being planned, dismissed the notion as “unfounded theories” with “no credence.”
