The YellowBook of Texas...

Today on Sunday I was working on new siding on my house with my friend Bob who was finishing up with me and your not going to believe this. I was with my son outside chatting with Bob about work and immigration issues. My garage was wide open and my car in the driveway.

Then out of the Blue a beleaguered looking, hunched over sweaty, hispanic male dressed in blue jeans and a grey T-shirt who looked lost and out of breath came walking into my front yard carrying a torn clear plastic bag and a large yellow book. Myself and Bob were like whats going on, I was thinking this was a bit odd on sunday. The person had no identification no shirt with his name on it or any kind of company markings. I didn't know if he was on drugs, scoping the area out, a solicitor someone lost, or what. Bob mentioned usually you see caucausions or at least local plates and identification and this happens on the weekdays not Sunday I agreed.

So then I just let him go forward as he walked right into my yard without saying a word went up my driveway and then flashed me the single yellow book he was carrying, it was a "yellow phonebook". I'm certain he looked into my garage and saw all my tools and other things in there. I said you are delivering me the phone book on Sunday why is the bag already opened he just shrugged his shoulders and pointed at me a few feet away and said "here". I asked if there were white pages to go along with this, ( I didn't realize at that point it was just the business addition) he just said "Yell-ow-book". I asked again why was it opened and where the white pages, he just placed it top of my trash can kind of smiled nervously and said "jus yell-ow-book". Ok I said do you understand me? He replied ," I no english". I pointed and said where did you come from with the "yellow book" he pointed to a van on the street. I said "they understand English" he said "si yahs". He scurried away at this point towards the van I walked down to it. I noticed it was a white van with Texas Plates in Minnesota, looked rather tattered and warn, with the company sign of "telephone directory ind(the rest wasn't clear" with a logo like 4 intertwined globes.

I went to the front and asked similar questions and the person spoke English albeit broken was wearing a white T-shirt & Jeans, and a female companion was in the passenger seat and other younger people in the back seat. He was eating some lunch or something and they all stopped what they were doing when I approached. I said why was the package open he said"I donotu know sir". Silence. Then made some small talk and asked does the Yellowbook have white pages when and when would it be arriving as I didn't get my copy. (now at this time I KNEW Yellowbook doesn't have a WHITEPAGES directory thats separate or at least hasn't been in the past) I wanted to hear what he had to say.

He said," Sir perhaps next week, maybe it will be then, ok." I said ,"ok thanks" then he drove off to the next house as the other guy scurried around peoples yards instead of using the driveway, trying to be real unobtrusive and out of sight as he delivered these always kind of hunched over.

You know if this is a case where the low ball sub minimum wage bid came out and cost Americans (Minnesotans) jobs this is real sad as it shows why our economy is steaming along while the wages aren't. You see the ads on TV how Yellow Book out delivers and is cheaper then The other Book "Qwest Dex" now I think I might know why its cheaper. http://www.yellowbook.com/aids/YellowBookUSAAboutOurCompany.htm

I looked for "Yellowbook" at http://wehirealiens.com/ didn't find them so we'll have to do some more investigating.

not knowing if these guys are for real, scoping the place out, gangsters, or whatever I felt real uncomfortable about this, Perhaps I had my first "Alien Encounter". Lets hope it doesn't turn into an "Alien invasion".

I think they may have answered an ad: No citizenship, social security number required, although I wonder if they checked the validity of the drivers license.
